Director/Manager Quality Assurance and Technical Liaison



Qualifications/Requirements:

• Textile Engineer/Textile testing knowledge.

• Ability to set up Quality Assurance procedures to administer internally and directly with our mill in Japan.

• Automotive Industry experience.

• Familiarity with US and international testing organizations, standards and procedures - ASTM, AATCC, BS, and the like.

• Familiarity with cut/sew operations and upholstery standards.

• Polished and professional interpersonal expertise.

• Impeccable written and verbal communication.

• Expert organizational and follow-up skills.

• Minimum 5 years quality/technical experience at textile mill or jobber.

• Candidate would benefit from a textile engineering degree or equivalent background. Chemical engineering experience a plus.

• Command of the Japanese language, spoken/written preferred.



Responsibilities:



1. Responsible for setting up and maintaining quality control systems for textile products at sales and marketing arm of textile mill. Responsible for all administration related to testing, specifications and communication of quality and technical aspects of the business.



2. Work closely with overseas partner mill to establish and maintain product specifications on an ongoing basis.



3. Coordinate with mill the testing of mill`s products and competitive products at outside laboratories. Direct communication with the mill in Japan including e-mail and phone conferences.



4. Liaison between product development department and mill on technical matters related to new and existing products. Learn the upholstering techniques which best work on mill`s products in several key industries including furniture and transportation industries, to become the resident expert on which upholstering techniques work for best for mill`s products.



5. Stay abreast of, and make mill and management aware of any new or proposed quality/testing requirements, certifications, environmental updates.



6. Attend training at overseas mill to gain familiarity with mill`s manufacturing processes and capabilities.



Responsibilities/Customers:



• Responsible for addressing and resolving customer quality complaints. This includes addressing customers` need for assistance at the manufacturing level as well as handling complaints in the field relating to finished products. Communicate efficiently to sales and all interested departments findings and resolutions. Internal inspections of incoming fabrics, comparison of lot retains to approved standards.

• Establish and maintain working relationships with quality/technical personnel at key customers. Work with key Customers to learn their fabric specifications testing methods. Lias between customers and mills to ensure products meet such specifications.
